International Women’s Day 2023 campaign theme is: #EmbraceEquity

We can all truly embrace equity.
It’s not just something we say. It’s not just something we write about.
It’s something we need to think about, know, value and embrace.
It’s what we believe in, unconditionally. Equity means creating an inclusive world.

Once again, the French network in India is committed to equality and fighting against any form of discrimination. Join the initiative!

Wherever you are in India, take action against discrimination. Organize your own event and showcase it on the Equality map. Take part in our events.

Women hold over one third of seats in local decision making bodies.

Women hold only 2 in every 10 science, engineering and information and communication technology jobs globally.

1 in every 3 managers/supervisors is a woman. At the current pace of changes, parity will not be achieved for another 140 years.

Today, 63 per cent of women have access to the internet, compared to 69 per cent of men.

Only 1 in 4 women reporting violent acts to the platform where they took place, and even fewer—14 per cent—reporting to a protective agency.

Globally, more than 1 in every 10 WOMEN AND GIRLS aged 15-49 were subjected to sexual and/ or physical violence by an intimate partner in the previous year.

Today, over 1.2 billion WOMEN AND GIRLS of reproductive age live in countries and areas with some restrictions on access to safe abortion.

Globally, over 380 million WOMEN AND GIRLS are in extreme poverty, living on less than $1.90 a day. If current trends continue, in subSaharan Africa, more women and girls will live in extreme poverty by 2030 than do today
