Our objective is to foster intellectual exchanges between France and India.

Each year, we celebrate the exchange of ideas — spanning cultures, themes, and generations — through the Institut Français’ flagship event, the Night of Ideas. This global event offers a unique opportunity to explore the latest advancements in knowledge and the arts. In 2025, we are expanding its scope to become a Festival of Ideas, lasting several days. This multidisciplinary festival will feature immersive exhibitions, documentary screenings, educational workshops, conferences, and roundtable discussions.

Throughout the year, we invite authors to participate in literary festivals and academic conferences. These discussions address global issues while remaining connected to everyday concerns, such as gender equality, sustainability, and ethics in technology. We welcome historians, sociologists, anthropologists, economists, scientists, policymakers, and more.

We also support local initiatives in the field of debates and can fund the participation of French experts in symposiums on various topics.

Finally, we collaborate with the Alliance Française network throughout the year to enhance their debate programming, notably on Environment Day.
