Valerie Chane Tef, lead singer and pianist of the band AKODA, is a composer from Réunion Island. She began studying classical piano at the age of seven, but it was jazz and Creole music that shaped her artistic path. Influenced by artists such as Omar Sosa, Alain Jean-Marie, Tania Maria, and Daniel Waro, Valerie has developed a distinctive style—optimistic, irresistible melodies that tell stories, often without the need for words.
Her rich cultural heritage and musical inspirations form the foundation of her universe. In AKODA’s latest album, Nout’ Souk, she brings a fresh sound to the trio, adding her voice in several songs sung in Creole.
