WHAT IS CYBERBULLYING?
Cyberbullying is defined as bullying with the use of digital technologies. It can take place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms and mobile phones. It is repeated behaviour, aimed at scaring, angering or shaming those who are targeted.
NEED FOR AWARENESS!
India has the highest global rate of cyberbullying, with over 85% of children affected, according to McAfee’s “Hidden in Plain Sight” study.
Common Forms of Cyberbullying in India
- False Rumors (39%)
- Social Exclusion (35%)
- Name-Calling (34%)
Many students remain silent, leaving incidents unreported. Raising awareness is key to creating safer digital spaces for young people.
VIDEO RESOURCES
Under the framework of the project ‘Let’s Fight Cyberbullying Together!’The French Institute in India has created three sets of trilingual video resources. These videos can be highly impactful tools for raising awareness on cyberbullying, and are tailored for specific audiences:
- Video 1 targets children,
- Video 2 is for teenagers, and
- Video 3 is designed for teachers, parents and other caregivers.
Moreover, each video set is available in English, French and Hindi. We encourage our partner institutions, as well as schools and universities across India, to conduct awareness sessions—using Videos 1 & 2 for students, and Video 3 for teachers, parents, and counsellors.
