The Paris Book Market is a unique networking opportunity for publishing professionals, taking place in Paris on June 5th and 6th, 2025.

Organized by the Bureau International de l’Édition Française (BIEF – French International Book Office) for the fourth consecutive year, it is designed exclusively for professionals in the publishing industry. It brings together French foreign rights representatives and their international counterparts for two days of B-to-B meetings.

To support this initiative, the French Institute in India has launched a fellowship, enabling two Indian publishers to participate in the program and further strengthening Indo-French publishing collaborations.

2025 Laureates

Mr. Aananth Daksnamurthy, Founder of Two Shores Press

Aananth Daksnamurthy is a rising voice in indie publishing and the founder of Two Shores Press, operating between Tiruchirappalli and New York. Founded under the Brooklyn-based Ulysses Press’ Indie Accelerator Program, Two Shores Press focuses on literary translations. Currently operating in the Tamil language market, it is soon expanding into English-language publications.

At the Paris Book Market, Aananth aims to expand the Tamil-French literary exchange by connecting with independent French and Francophone publishers, securing titles for their 2026/27 list. He intends to identify emerging trends, discover underrepresented voices, and develop strong translator networks, ensuring contemporary French literature reaches Tamil readers. Beyond rights acquisition, he seeks to explore France’s literary ecosystem—visiting bookstores, theatres, and cultural spaces to understand how literature is lived and supported through public funding.

Ms. Shubhali Chopra, Commissioning Editor – Non-fiction & Trade Reference at Hachette India 

Shubhali Chopra’s publishing journey began with children’s books and trade reference, before transitioning to a commissioning role for the reference division at Hachette India. She oversees list building, revenue, and profit-driven deliverables.

By participating in the Paris Book Market , she aims to strengthen Hachette Group’s presence in India by fostering French-Indian collaborations in the rapidly growing Children’s and Trade Reference segments. Prioritizing translations and co-publishing, she seeks to establish a long-term publishing program with French publishers. With expertise in the Indian book market and a deepening connection to French culture, she aims to bridge the gap and bring relevant French titles to Indian readers.
