What is “Certified French in Schools”?

French language: a gateway to global opportunities, higher education, and international careers, both in India and abroad. To support and recognize excellence in French as a foreign language education across India, the French Embassy is proud to introduce “Certified French in School” — a prestigious recognition for secondary schools teaching French. This initiative allows schools across India to receive official recognition for their commitment to high-quality French language instruction and to join an exclusive network of certified institutions.

Why? - By becoming certified, schools gain:

Official Recognition

Network & Collaboration

Access to Resources & Training

Student Opportunities

Visibility & Prestige

Certified schools will directly benefit from:

A congratulatory letter from the Embassy of France in India’s Counsellor for Education, Science & Culture and Director of the French Institute in India.

An Award Plaque to be displayed on school premises, including recognition from the Embassy of France in India and the level of the award (bronze, silver, gold).

An inaugural event with high-ranking representatives of the Embassy of France in India.

I want to be certified, how can I apply?

To obtain the “Certified French in School” label, institutions demonstrate their commitment to high-quality language education by submitting an online application to demonstrate they meet a set of quality criteria established by the French Embassy / The French Institute in India. These criteria are made public on the French Institute website and evaluate the curriculum, teacher qualifications, student engagement, and institutional commitment to French language education. Once accredited, schools will undergo periodic reviews to ensure continued excellence. To apply, please contact the Attaché for cooperation for French language of your zone.
