Cannes Special Edition
MyFrenchFilmFestival is an online fest organized by France’s film-TV promotional body UniFrance.
After holding its 11th edition earlier this year, will go live again next month for a Cannes Special Edition.
Running from 6th to 17th July – in parallel with the Cannes Film Festival – this edition will screen 12 features and 12 shorts, free of charge and subtitled in 10 languages, on MyFrenchFilmFestival.com. The shorts will also go out on the festival’s YouTube, Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Spotlighting standout films from previous Cannes and MyFrenchFilmFestival selections, the 12 features include Rebecca Zlotowski’s “Dear Prudence,” a volatile coming-of-age pic than gave Léa Seydoux her breakout role; Alice Winocour’s lascivious historical drama “Augustine” with actors Soko and Vincent Lindon; and Antonin Peretjatko’s absurdist throwback comedy “The Rendez-Vous of Déjà Vu.”
The Swallows of Kabul
Summer 1998 – Kabul under Taliban rule. Zunaira and Mohsen are young and in love. Despite the daily violence and misery, they hope for a better future. One day, a foolish gesture causes life to take an irrevocable turn.
Dear Prudence
Prudence Friedman is 17 years old. Her mother died a few days ago. Left alone in the family apartment and to her own devices, she encounters Maryline, a rebellious teenager who takes her to an illegal racetrack in Rungis, on the outskirts of Paris, where customized cars and bikes dangerously spin.
Fascinated by the circuit gang, Reynald, Franck, and the others, Prudence attempts to establish her place among them by trying to pass her loneliness off for freedom.
Willy the 1st
When his twin brother dies, 50-year-old Willy leaves his parents’ home for the first time and moves to a neighbouring village. “To Caudebec I shall go. An apartment I will find. Buddies I will have. And to hell with you all!” Maladjusted, Willy sets out to find his place in a world that he doesn’t know.
Chasse Royale
Angélique, 13, is the eldest child of a large family living in the suburbs of Valenciennes. One day at school, she is asked to audition for a film.
