Over 100 participants in Pune for the Industry-Academy Workshop of the Franco-Indian Campus for Life Sciences and Health (December 3-5, 2024).
The Franco-Indian campus for life sciences and health is a project launched in 2022, bringing together 20 of the most prestigious French and Indian higher education and research establishments. Its aim is to build long-term academic and industrial partnerships, to promote student mobility, double degrees and the emergence of scientific networks in the fields of health and life sciences (digital, immunology, AI for health, neurosciences, etc.).

The workshop was held at IISER Pune and inaugurated by its Director, Prof. Bhagwat, and Nicolas Gherardi (Deputy Counsellor for Education, Science and Culture in the French Embassy in India). The program was built around exchanges (general presentation of the campus, industrial partners and innovation, followed by thematic sessions) and visits to companies and incubators.

Discussions highlighted high-level scientific advances, such as the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, on which the Institut du Cerveau in Paris and the Indian Institute in Delhi have been working. A number of avenues were explored to boost the campus and enhance the efficiency of the various working groups.
The workshop was followed by a networking session over cocktails, in the presence of Mr. Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Consul General of France in Bombay.

The partnerships resulting from the workshop will accelerate the momentum of the Franco-Indian campus in life sciences and health, with a view to the Franco-Indian Year of Innovation in 2026.
