The Embassy of France in India, the French Institute in India, and the Alliance Française network collaborated to present the Fête de la Musique 2024 celebration. Held throughout June 2024, this festival featured a diverse array of activities, including three French music productions in India, aimed at showcasing France’s rich musical landscape and its emerging talents.

The events began on June 14 and concluded on June 30, offering a dynamic program of concerts, workshops, and discussions. These activities were organized in partnership with local collaborators and various Alliance Française branches across India.

The festival showcased eight artists on tour, performing a total of 15 shows, 11 of which were produced in collaboration with the Alliance Française network. Additionally, seven workshops were conducted, attracting a combined audience of 2,600 attendees for both the shows and workshops.

AKODA

AKODA, a trio led by pianist and singer Valérie Chane Tef from Reunion Island, along with Thomas Boudé and Eric Perez, recently completed a five-city tour of India, performing in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Jaipur.

This Jazz Creole band, which has been perfecting its sound for a decade, toured with their album Nout’Souk during their time in India. They performed at some of the country’s most prestigious venues, including the National School of Drama in New Delhi, Antisocial in Mumbai, and Clarks Amer in Jaipur, among others. Their music deeply echoed with the Indian audience, making their tour a resounding success!

We look forward to promoting further cultural exchanges with Reunion Island, with plans to welcome artists from the region for a Wall Art event in November. This initiative aims to deepen our artistic connections and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Reunion Island.

DJ GREG

Mauritius-born and now Paris-based, electronic artist GЯEG is a DJ and producer who recently completed a successful tour of India in collaboration with RINSE France and Boxout.FM. He performed in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Mumbai, and Chennai, garnering widespread recognition from Indian audiences, which underscored his growing popularity and appeal within the country’s electronic music scene.

GЯEG played at some of India’s most renowned clubs and bars, including RED in Delhi, Storytellers Bar in Pondicherry, and Khar Social in Mumbai. His vibrant music drew enthusiastic crowds at each venue, showcasing his ability to connect with audiences across diverse cultural and geographical contexts.

During his tour, GЯEG also conducted workshops in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, engaging with younger audiences and highlighting the importance of sharing knowledge and experience to encourage the growth of emerging talent in the electronic music scene.

Looking ahead, GЯEG is excited to host Indian DJs in France, whom he connected with during his tour. The French Institute plans to continue its partnership with RINSE France and is eager to host another artist from the label next year.

BRÖ

Elisa Brolli, an experimental pop and hip-hop artist and rapper, is known for her unique style and originality. A laureate of Le Fair, BRÖ recently completed her first tour of India, covering four cities: Bhopal, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, and Delhi. She performed at local hotspots such as the Tribal Museum in Bhopal, Malibu in Hyderabad, and Bharat Bhavan in Trivandrum.

BRÖ’s tour was a remarkable success, with her dynamic pop music and authentic presence creating a strong connection with the Indian audience. This tour exemplifies the French Institute’s core mission of promoting and supporting young talents, helping them reach new international audiences, and cultivating cross-cultural exchange.
