Rahul Bishnoi

Playwright and researcher

France has been central to my professional research career as a scholar. I aim to take inspiration from Julien Gracq’s geographical works and write a two-dimensionally stretched theatre text that performs the essence of a city.

Rahul Bishnoi is an artist-scholar specializing in Performance Studies and Philosophy, using theatre to explore urban space. He holds a B.Tech in Bioengineering from IIT Guwahati and recently graduated with the President’s Gold Medal from IIT Gandhinagar’s M.A. in Society and Culture. His work has been presented at international conferences such as Imagining The Ordinary City (Cape Town, 2024) and The Politics of Emotions (Bangalore, 2024). Rahul is currently exploring creative cartography in playwriting and will develop cartographic theatre scripts at Villa Swagatam’s Maison Julien Gracq residency.
