2023 - 2024

Pauline Lavogez

It is with the aim of nourishing my performance practice that I aspired to immerse myself in the knowledge and traditions of puppet theater. India represents an exceptional opportunity to explore puppetry and its know-hows, with its diversity of styles, techniques and tales, deeply rooted in Indian culture.

Pauline Lavogez, a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2015) and the EXERCE choreographic research program in Montpellier (2022) combines choreography, video-performance, and installation in her work, exploring themes of desire, conflict, and domination. Her award-winning creations, including her first solo choreography “Ni regret ni oubli” (2021), have been exhibited in Paris, Lisbon, and Marseille. During her residency with the Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust in Delhi and Mussoorie, she experimented with mobile and articulated sculptures, presenting her work “Single family house” at the Katkatha Puppet Fringe Festival in December 2023. This experience significantly transformed her understanding of movements, rhythms, and the relationship between the mechanical and human body, enhancing her dance technique even beyond puppet manipulation. Following her residency, Pauline further developed her project during a two-week residency at Point Éphémère, culminating in a performance in June 2024. She will present a work-in-progress version of the performance at the Ménagerie de Verre in Paris during the upcoming Danse Dense #lefestival x Les Inaccoutumés on November 14th, 2024.
