Gaspard Combes

Artist

Jaipur’s rich sculptural heritage, including its ancient temples and carvings, aligns with my focus on mythologies and contemporary anachronisms. I also aim to create site-specific public installations that foster collaboration. I plan to juxtapose temporary sculptures, mimicking stone but made from light materials, with local people in staged photographs, blending ancient and modern elements to explore cultural perceptions and temporalities.

Gaspard Combes blends geological and megalithic inspirations with modern artifacts, creating works that juxtapose existential and everyday themes with humour. His art contrasts archaism with modernity, exploring human connections to both urban and natural environments. He exhibited in varisousl places, including Quebec, Portugal and Carnac alignments. He has also participated in the UMOJA residency in Tanzania and is a recipient of the ADAGP Research Endowment Scholarship and the Nouveau Grand Tour Italy residency for 2024.
