Villa Swagatam - French Institute in India

Call for Applications 2024

This call for applications is open to all visual artists, designers, authors, graphic novelists and illustrators, coming from France or India

Candidates from India and France are requested to go through the FAQs and the individual presentations of the residencies they wish to apply for. Please note that this form does not automatically save your responses. Hence, we request you to prepare them in advance and fill out the full form in a single sitting. An application once submitted will not be open to modification.

Candidates are hereby informed that applications should be in English and will only be accepted via this form. Although fluency in English is essential for participation in the residencies in India and France, proficiency in French is not required.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
You can apply for a maximum of 3 residencies from the same country in one year. In case you are applying for more than 1 residency, please indicate your order of preference. Residencies in India are open to residents coming from France and residencies in France are open to residents coming from India.
The deadline for submitting the application is midnight [Central European Summer Time] on May 31st, 2024 [Fri]. Late submissions will not be considered.
We recommend having the following documents ready before filling out this form:
- A literary/artistic portfolio including texts, visuals and/or links;
- A detailed CV;
- Any other relevant documents that you may wish to share [Maximum 3. For example: certificates, recommendation letters, press reviews etc.]
- Applicants applying for literary residencies need to be published professionally
We also recommend having short texts ready [maximum 250 words long each] before filling this form to explain each of the following items:
- your motivation for applying
- the nature of the project you wish to work on
- the correlation between the project you wish to work on and the residency space you are applying for
- the correlation between the project you wish to work on and your current professional activity
