2023 - 2024

Chiara Armellini

With Tuttifrutti, I would like to develop a children’s game-book with a first part dedicated to words, adjectives and all the bizarre characteristics attributed to fruits; a second part dedicated to the graphic study of completely imaginary and invented fruits. The book can become a game to compose visual and word poems, to free the imagination and to play at inventing magical fruit.

Chiara Armellini is an Italian illustrator based in Paris, known for her vibrant and imaginative work. A graduate of the ISIA in Urbino and the Massana School in Barcelona, her illustrations have been showcased in prestigious venues such as the Bologna Children's Book Fair, and exhibited in Tokyo, New York, Paris, and Milan. In 2021, she received a CNL grant to create an illustrated book for the visually impaired. Chiara frequently leads creative workshops for children in libraries, museums, and schools across France and Italy. During her residency at Tara Books in India, she advanced her ongoing project Tutti Frutti, which is set to be published by Tara Books As part of her outreach programs, she participated in the Ceylon Literature Festival in Sri Lanka and held a workshop in Colombo where children crafted imaginary fruits. She conducted additional workshops at the Alliance Française in Pondicherry and Chennai. The Tutti Frutti project continues to develop following her residency.
