Bijal Vaccharajani

Writer

For the past five years, I have been dealing with personal loss. My new book will blend memoir with an exploration of climate-induced losses, aiming to provide comfort and emphasize the need for climate action. I intend to immerse myself in nature to reflect on and articulate my experience of grief and loss.

When Bijal Vachharajani isn't reading or writing children's books, she's editing them. She has authored award-winning, planet-friendly titles like “A Cloud Called Bhura”, “Savi and the Memory Keeper”, and “When Fairyland Lost Its Magic”. Her work has been published in India, the US, and the UK. As one of India's first climate writers for children, she is a commissioning editor at Pratham Books, developing diverse, multilingual picture books. Formerly the editor of Time Out Bengaluru, she is now a mentor editor with the Neev Fellowship. Her writing explores themes of personal and planetary loss.
