The mission of Institut français India(IFI) is to facilitate Indo-French exchanges through country festivals encompassing varied events at regular intervals so that peoples of our countries can get to know each other better, share and learn from each other.

By creating the Institut français, the French government has given the mandate to the same organization to promote French cultural action overseas, be it in the form of artistic exchanges, promotion of French thought and ideas through the printed word or audio visual medium, of French language, and of French know- how via student, academic, research and scientific exchange.

The dynamism of IFI (Institut français India) translates into action through the dedicated efforts of the Alliance Française network in India that represent local Indian organizations who help disseminate French culture, promote budding Indo French cultural exchanges and teach French across the Indian territory.

The Institut français India is part of the huge cultural network of over 100 IFs (Institut français) worldwide working in close relationship with over 1000 Alliance Françaises. In India alone there are 16 Alliances Françaises, some with multiple campuses.
